Members of Ang Dating Daan (“The Old Path,” hereon referred to as ADD) call Eliseo Soriano (their presiding minister) “the only sensible, honest and straightforward evangelist today”. They claim that his famous broadcast is “the only religious program which heightened the religious awareness of many people.” and that half a million people already converted to their faith because of that program, which is aired not only nationwide but even worldwide through their own cable TV channel, a hundred radio stations and the Internet. Thus, there is a need to discern whether the ADD is of God or not.
In 1980, the Philippines’ organization registry officially recognized the group as Mga Kaanib Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus Haligi at Saligan ng Katotohanan sa Bansang Pilipinas (Members Church of God in Christ Jesus the Pillar and Ground of the Truth in the Philippines) with Bro. From less than a hundred believers, Church members and locales grew steadily as the outcome of the group’s zealous efforts in evangelization. Eli would move from one town to another to conduct Bible studies, usually three towns every night.
In 2002, Ang Dating Daan was named Yehey's most popular website at the Philippine Web Awards.
They also won the People's Choice Award under the category of Best Organization.
From Pampanga area, the group’s main seat, he reached out to the provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, and Metro Manila to do his missionary works. Eli calculated that his lifetime is not enough to reach Filipinos in distant regions even with his nightly town-to-town preaching, so he decided to go on air. Eli discerned that he can reach many people at a time using the broadcast media.
In the last quarter of 1980, the Church launched the radio program Ang Dating Daan, hosted by Bro. Through the local radio station DWWA 1206 Khz, ADD was heard in many parts of the Philippine Archipelago.
